Tea Party Patriots Action (TPPA) blasted the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for allegedly using “threat tags” to monitor and investigate concerned parents that the FBI deemed unsafe.
According to a letter from GOP members of the House of Representatives, whistleblowers informed House Republicans that the government agency used the tags to launch investigations across the country.

“The FBI investigated parents who were concerned about their children’s schooling and spoke up about it. This is appalling, on so many levels. To start, it is absolutely unacceptable for the FBI to investigate any parent who spoke at a school board meeting. The First Amendment grants every American the right to free speech and the right to petition our government for ‘redress of grievances.’ Parents have every right to stand up for their sons and daughters when it comes to reopening schools that were closed because of Covid, forcing students to wear masks, indoctrinating students with Critical Race Theory or anything else,” said TPPA Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin in an emailed statement.
“Additionally, we know what this is really about – it’s not about investigating a few dozen parents, it’s about sending a message to all parents: ‘Keep your mouths shut. Obey.’ That should never happen in America. The National School Board Association – which, with help from the Biden White House, launched this witch hunt by sending a letter to the FBI demanding an investigation, and then later apologized for it – has a lot to answer for. So does Attorney General Garland.”
The letter also claims the investigations were conducted through the FBI’s counterterrorism unit. Because of this, the lawmakers accused the Attorney General of lying under oath. When testifying before the group, Garland denied the counterterrorism resources.
The claims follow Garland publishing a memo to other law enforcement agencies last year to coordinate with the FBI on protests at school board meetings.
